A global mission to protect children
Founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1999, the World Childhood Foundation works to prevent the sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence of children. Active in more than 21 countries with over 2,000 projects implemented, their mission is to ensure every child experiences a safe, loving childhood.
As part of their Stella Polaris initiative, the team had built a comprehensive knowledge center in Notion — full of valuable research, frameworks, and resources. But it was missing two critical pieces: design and usability. They needed a front-facing version that felt cohesive, reflected the foundation’s brand, and was easy to navigate for external stakeholders.
That’s when they brought us in.
The Challenge
The Stella Polaris project had the content in place, but the user experience wasn’t there yet. The Foundation’s team wanted to:
1. Make their knowledge center accessible to the public
They had built a rich internal hub in Notion, but wanted to share it more widely through a dedicated public website.
2. Align the design with their brand
The site needed to reflect the professionalism and care of the Foundation’s work — with colors, layout, and structure that matched their identity.
3. Improve the experience for users
Navigation, page structure, and usability needed to feel natural, so visitors could find what they needed and explore without friction.
The Solution
We worked closely with Erika Olsson to translate the Foundation’s goals into a practical, elegant solution.
Wireframing the experience
We began by mapping out the structure of the knowledge hub — what content needed to live where, and how users would navigate it. Using Adobe XD, we created wireframes for the main pages and workflows, and went through multiple iterations with Erika to fine-tune the layout and structure.
Designing in Notion, styling with Super
Once the wireframes were approved, we built the site inside Notion, using Super to apply custom styling that aligned with the Foundation’s branding. From fonts and spacing to image placement and visual hierarchy, every detail was designed to reinforce clarity and trust.
Turning a workspace into a public knowledge hub
The result was a seamless, easy-to-navigate site that retained the editing power of Notion behind the scenes — while delivering a user experience that felt like a professional, standalone website.
The Results
A branded, public-facing resource
The Foundation now has a dedicated website where external partners and the public can access valuable insights from the Stella Polaris project — all without needing access to their internal systems.
Simplified content management
Because the entire site is powered by Notion, the team can easily make edits, add new resources, and update content — without needing a developer.
Stronger alignment with their mission
The finished site reflects the professionalism, care, and clarity that define the World Childhood Foundation’s work — helping their message reach more people in a way that’s both accessible and engaging.
